( Geo. Cook Chevrolet / Conoco Gas station
in Newark, IL - This photo
circa 1949 ) Yes, this is the same building as in the "Now" picture - separated in time by almost 60 years. Built around 1939, with the help of friends and family, as a replacement for the first COOK CHEVROLET. The original building, which was located across the street, burnt down. That site is now a Newark town playground. This new building was built using windows, beams, and clay block salvaged from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair |
